MEET THE CRAFTSMAN

Fortes fortuna adiuvat“ - Terence

Pierre Flavetta is a respected violin maker based in Cremona, Italy, with a deep knowledge of historical methods of instrument making. His passion for the craft has led him to study Italian Renaissance varnish techniques in-depth, resulting in a thorough understanding of their chemical and physical properties.

In 2022, Pierre opened his own workshop, Laboratori Mosa, located in the heart of Cremona. Along with his talented colleagues Ezio Usai, Massimo Atzeni and Enrico Atzeni, he provides a full range of instrument making and restoration services, carefully creating bespoke violins, violas, and cellos that are uniquely tailored to each individual player.

Pierre's passion for historical varnish techniques has driven his research, and he employs only the finest natural resins and pigments in his varnish making, following Renaissance methods as closely as possible. His instruments deliver exceptional tonal qualities, and each one is carefully made to achieve the perfect balance of sound and aesthetic beauty.

He travels regularly to conduct restoration work and delivers workshops and conferences where he shares insights from his extensive research into Italian Renaissance varnish techniques.

If you're looking for a custom-made instrument, require restoration services or would like more informations about an event, please contact Pierre Flavetta by mail, text, or call.
